Five concepts every fresher must master. Skip certifications until you nail these.
You don't need certifications to break into a cloud role — you need working knowledge of five concepts. Here they are.
Every cloud has virtual machines: EC2 (AWS), Compute Engine (GCP), Virtual Machines (Azure). Learn to spin one up, SSH in, and deploy a small Python app. Do this once and 40% of cloud interviews become trivial.
Object storage (S3, GCS, Blob), block storage (EBS), and databases (RDS, DynamoDB, Firestore). Understand when to use each. Object storage for files, block for VMs, managed databases for structured data.
VPCs, subnets, security groups. Learn to think in terms of "which port is open to whom". Most production outages are networking issues in disguise.
Access control is the foundation of cloud security. Users, roles, policies, permissions. Get comfortable with the least-privilege principle.
Serverless compute (Lambda, Cloud Functions), managed queues (SQS), managed containers (ECS, Cloud Run). These are where startups win. Learning them signals modern cloud fluency.
Fresher cloud roles rarely require certs. But a certified fresher gets shortlisted twice as often. Recommended entry certs:
Six weeks. Two certifications. One deployed multi-cloud project. That's the format. Alumni have placed at CloudHive, DevSprint and Nexora — all cloud-first Indian startups.
